Your talent is God’s gift to you. What you do with it is your gift back to God. God gave each of us amazing gifts so that we might use them for good to find our place in the world. To bring joy to other people is to bring joy to God himself and that’s exactly what Lifford Shillingford did.
To make it through a single round in the hit talent show Britain’s Got Talent is quite the achievement in itself. To have a judge use their golden buzzer on a contestant speaks boatloads about that contestant.
A judge on Britain’s Got Talent is only allowed to use the golden buzzer once per season. This lets a contestant skip all intermediary rounds and puts them directly into the semi-finals.
With the judges letting him know that they were with him, Lillford moved the entire room to tears by singing a beautiful rendition of ‘A change is gonna come.’
Lillford’s motivation is, as he said it “to have a good time and be here.” In addition to receiving a golden buzzer from the judge Alesha Dixon, he received a standing ovation from the audience. The golden confetti that fell afterward on his crying face was icing on the cake. His time in the spotlight ends with him saying how amazing and real it is.
