Science on Moms’ Side – Men Are Worse Than the Kids
Vindication! Every mom with a husband or boyfriend knows what it can be like with a man around – sometimes they are as much trouble as the kids. Don’t get us wrong, men have things going for them, but they also contribute to overall household stress.
In a recent survey conducted by Today, 7,000 moms across the United States were asked for the reasons behind their stress.
Women may not be surprised by this, but Today found that the majority of moms polled rate their stress as 8.5 out of 10. To top that off, 36% of moms surveyed felt their husbands caused more pressure than the children did.
Women have said this for years, but now the numbers back them up.
Today discussed some of the reasons why women find their men stress-inducing. Seventy-five percent of the women polled said they always feel the need to do all of the interior household chores because they do not believe the work won’t get done otherwise. One in five women also said they constantly feel stressed because their husbands or significant others simply do not help with any household chores.
A few moms told the surveyors at Today that their husbands make things more difficult for them.
“A 7-year-old is going to be a 7-year-old. But a 35-year-old acting like a 7-year-old is more stressful because they should know better,” said Deno Fleno, a mom interviewed by the pollsters.
One mom said her husband felt “like another job.”
Men, take note. Your wife is not just nagging; she is looking for an equal partner in life, including a domestic partner who helps with household chores. This article isn’t man-bashing. No one is saying the majority of women have man-babies as husbands, but we are saying that a healthy, productive, and less stressful wife starts with men doing their part without being nagged, asked a million times, and without grumbling about it when they do help.
