I love animals! They have a special place in my heart, especially little dogs. It’s so adorable to see their tiny bodies try to accomplish things with their big minds.
One adventurous little pup found himself inside of a liquor store under the shelves alone and scared. He ran away from home and became very nervous as people approached to try and help. The dog was a pretty beige colored Chihuahua.
The owner of the store attempted to comfort the pup by giving him a small yellow towel to lay under. This didn’t help much as the dog seem to growl no matter what.
Sabrina Wilkerson works for a rescue team specifically for Chihuahuas. She received information about the dog from the gentlemen working in the store that day.
She went to the location to rescue the puppy.
“He showed us his teeth-He was just stressed out,” she described.
Wilkerson attempted to pick up the little guy who did not immediately warm up to her. In fact, he jumped out of her vehicle at the first chance he had.
“I didn’t take him in a crate. I figured I’d just carry him in my arms,” she explained. “I don’t know what I was thinking — I’d never done this before with a stray.”
Fortunately, a lady helped to get the dog back to Wilkerson. Her name was Austin. Wilkerson decided to give that name to the dog.
Sabrina recognized how adventurous little Austin was and wanted to make sure that his new owners understood his personality.
“He seems to like to be out,” Wilkerson explained, “so whoever adopts him needs to understand his story, and needs to be very careful with front doors … because once he’s out, he just wants to run.”
Luckily Austin found a home with his new loving parents Kate and Irina.
“The guy has had a hectic couple of weeks and who knows his story before that. They understand that he’s going to need some time and patience. Once he has some consistency and stability, I have no doubt that he will turn into a confident, happy, loving little boy.”
We are glad to know this little guy has a new forever home and a family who will adore him.
