“No charge for this lady under any circumstances. We will be available 24 hours to help her and keep her as comfortable as possible.”
A plumber is being hailed a hero after it was revealed that he fixes plumping work for customers who are in need and doesn’t charge them any money.
52-year-old James Anderson has helped thousands of individuals in need since he left his private business and set up a non-profit company called Depher.
But it was a one specific act of kindness that got people’s attention from all over the world via social media. A bill was posted on the internet for services provided for a 91-year-old lady with acute-leukemia. James had not charged her anything at all for his work.
Along with the bill, James, who is a father-of-five, claimed: “No charge for this lady under any circumstances. We will be available 24 hours to help her and keep her as comfortable as possible.”
James says he was inspired to start his company Depher after seeing an elderly man being mistreated by an engineer.
“A lot of people close to me ask: why are you getting yourself into debt? Why are you doing this?” he said. “To me, debt is debt… I would rather owe some money to somebody and another person be alive and happy and safe.”
James has been providing this free or low-cost plumbing service for many people in need since 2017. Even though James has fallen into debt of about $10,000, he truly believes that he is doing the right thing. “It’s an ethos that’s in my heart and it will always stay there.”
