Video shows a fast-thinking teenager saving a toddler’s life when he stopped a young girl from falling from a second-story window of an Istanbul apartment.
Feuzi Zabaat, a 17-year-old Algerian, told AFP last week that he saw Syrian Doha Muhammed, a 2-year-old, playing near the open window, while he was walking down the street.
“I was just walking in the road when I saw the little girl at the window. She fell, and thanks to God, I caught her before she hit the ground,” he told the French news agency.
Feuzi told Reuters that when he noticed the little girl about to fall that he positioned himself under her.
CCTV footage shows Feuzi in a yellow t-shirt standing just off the sidewalk and looking up. As he raises up his arms, you can see from the top of the frame, the little girl fall down.
Miraculously, Feuzi was able to catch Doha and break her fall. The video shows him comforting and rocking the young girl in his arms as a crowd forms around them.
Doha suffered no injuries, and her family gave Feuzi 200 Turkish Liras, about $35, for his heroic act according to Reuters.
