We hear stories of selflessness on a daily basis. But very few of those affect us and the way we live our lives. Here’s a story that will change your life and restore your belief in both God and humanity.
This mom was eating with her son when she noticed a homeless man going from table to table begging for food. He was just about to lose hope and give up when Bonnie Monroe went to him. She believes that she was told to do so by God himself.
She immediately got up, chased him down, and asked him whether he would like to have dinner. Being homeless and used to rejection, Bonnie says, “He told [us] he was hungry and would love to eat with us but those people didn’t want him around and he doesn’t want to get hurt so he’ll wait in the alley and just will eat our scraps.”
Bonnie insisted and found out that his name was Byron. She made the man completely comfortable. “We ate, laughed, and even danced a little we enjoyed our night together,” she wrote on Facebook.
Her story was seen and liked by many and serves as a tale of inspiration. Some people even wanted Bonnie to create a GoFundMe page for Byron and she happily obliged. A mere 16 hours after Bonnie made the page, $800 was donated by 33 people. That’s more than enough to get Byron back on his feet. Monroe concluded by saying, “Stop looking down on those who are down on their luck because God giveth and taketh away.”
