We’ve all heard the saying one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. For two men in Alberta, Canada, this definitely rings true.

Alexander Archbold is the proud owner of Curiosity Inc., known for their unique items and pieces from the past. The store is enjoyed by those who are collectors and decorating with an era in mind.

Adam was living on the streets and didn’t have a home. He decided to bring things he found in other peoples trash to the store in hopes of a little cash. One day he brought a picture of Bambi he found in a broken frame.

Alexander bought the picture for $20 with hopes to maybe sell it for $100 at some point. When he took the piece out of the frame he realized there was a number assigned to the piece and a certificate.

“I took it out of the old frame and when I flipped it over, it had a really old certificate of authenticity. It had a copyright date of 1937 on it.”

After further research, Alexander realized the piece was worth at least $3500. He was thrilled and wanted to give Adam half of the profit from the sell.

The day came when the piece was sold and Alexander went out to locate Adam with his cash gift.

“Getting him the money was difficult because he has no home and no phone number,” he said, “I took it upon myself to drive around town for a period of two weeks every single morning before work to try and find him.”

After speaking with a few of Adam’s friends to find him, the two finally connected. Adam received his cash award and was deeply touched and surprised.
