Children are precious little gifts from God himself. They’re his way of rewarding us for all the hardships that we go through in life. Children also have a special place in the eyes of God. Antonin and Alexandra Kinova were keenly expecting their second child together. Alexandra, who is now 23 years old, became a mother at a very young age. Since they already had one child, the couple thought that they were better prepared for the second one. However, the couple from the Czech Republic was soon informed by their doctors that they would not just be having one, but two babies. Alexandra was apparently pregnant with twins. The parents were absolutely delighted and couldn’t believe their luck. While most people get one present, they were getting two.
A few months after the couple was told they were having twins, the doctors again told Alexandra that they were mistaken. Turns out, it won’t be twins that they’ll be having, but quadruplets! Antonin and Alexandra didn’t plan on getting famous but the events that took place in that delivery room made headlines all around the world. Midway through her pregnancy, Alexandra went for a checkup, stunning all her doctors. Her twins had doubled in size and instead of two heads, they saw four. Or at least that’s what they thought. The doctors have somehow mistaken yet again. A month later, they spotted a fifth little head, meaning that the couple was expecting nor four, but five babies. It was probably very difficult to get an accurate reading the first few times due to all the babies that were in her belly. The couple didn’t even know some of their babies’ genders until birth.
They welcomed 4 boys, Michael, Martin, Deniel, and Alex, and a girl whose name is Terezka. According to Alena Mechurova who is an obstetrician, Alexandra actually made the local history that day. “In our country (birth) statistics have been recorded since 1949 and there’s no mention of quintuplets. In the Czech Republic quintuplets are born on average once every 480 years.” In order to safely deliver all the babies, the hospital had enlisted the help of over 40 hospital staff including midwives and doctors. The births all took place without any complications according to the chief doctor of the neonatal unit, Zbynek Stranak. The chances of having quadruplets are just one in seven million. With their luck, they had more than just quadruplets! The couple says that they both have a family history of twin births. No wonder they were blessed with so many babies in one go!
