“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
2 Corinthians 12:9
He Is Our Strength
Most people are not comfortable with weakness. Our society praises the strong and powerful, whether they’re Olympic athletes, corporate tycoons, or government leaders. We admire individuals who are physically strong, emotionally strong, and fiscally strong. And we usually feel pressure to become stronger in all areas as a result.
While it’s good to exercise, maintain self-discipline, and practice responsible stewardship, we must also recognize our limitations. No matter how hard we work out or work our way up the corporate ladder, we all have weaknesses. And we’re only human—not superhuman and certainly not as strong as God. Sometimes we have a hard time remembering and respecting our limitations.
God wants us to rely on him as the source of our strength—not our own ability. Today, rest in the knowledge that you don’t have to make everything happen in order to be strong.
Pray: “Lord, I have limits and can only do so much. Help me to do my part but to rely on you as the source of my strength.”
