For the past few days, the news has been flooded with stories from George H.W. Bush as President, family man, and man of God. Stories of his childhood, love letters in his marriage and moments as a father. A more intimate look at George H.W. Bush. Flags across the country were lowered in his honor.
The service at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church was shown live on television and digital media. All have stopped to honor the loss of America’s 41st President.
A dear friend of the Bush family is country singer Reba McEntire. She frequently spoke kindly of him and the entire Bush family. She posted a picture on social media of her and the President as they chatted and held hands of friendship.
The caption said, “My favorite. #greatpresident #greatfriend.”
On the Nov. 30th service, Reba prepared to sing ‘The Lord’s Prayer’ in her simple black dress and cross necklace. She was obviously emotional and pushed through the song. It was a beautiful and passionate performance. She occasionally had moments where she seemed to collect herself emotionally. She would look away, take a breath, or swallow down her feelings. Just her talented voice and a piano were all that filled the entire church with fullness and love.
Many family and friends were touched by the song and also emotional. Those in attendance appreciated the song and the Bush family was pleased.

What a great reminder to keep the Lord’s Prayer on our mouths and in our hearts.
Please pray for the Bush family.
