Horses are such beautiful animals. They are such strong creatures that have had such a significant relationship with humans since the beginning of mankind.

We tend to see them in races, farms, action movies and entertaining animal shows. It is not often we see them being hurt or taken advantage of. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case in Romania.

In some areas, horses are discovered to have their front or back legs tied together with chains. This is done so the animals cannot run away. It causes lots of discomfort for the sweet horses and also cuts up their legs.

Ovidiu Rosu, a man from Four Paws organization prides himself of freeing horses from this type of abuse. On a typical day at work he noticed a horse and carefully approached to try to help.

After some time he was able to cut the chains and give the horse its ability to walk freely again. One of the other horses saw what was happening and seemed to understand Ovidiu’s efforts. It walked over to him and seemed to thank him with a small physical kiss or nose rub.

The organization has been freeing horses from chains for quite some time but also has helped with an overpopulation concern. In an effort to prevent further cruelty to lower numbers, the group has helped with contraceptives for the mares. This has been very successful.
