We don’t always understand the way God works. We only know that God works in mysterious and miraculous ways that we least expect. This story shows just how true this is.
The people of Forsyth County, Georgia were shocked and terrified when they heard the news of a 2-year old toddler’s disappearance. The baby had wandered outside on his own from the back door of his house, which was kept unlocked.
When the sheriff’s office was alerted of the disappearance, they immediately sprung into action, doing everything they could to find the lost baby. More than 50 police officers and firefighters were looking for the toddler, but couldn’t find him anywhere. As it got dark, they knew they had to do something quickly if they want to find the baby on time.
So, they put out a reverse 911 alert to cell phones in the area. Phillip Bettis, who is an associated magistrate judge, was one of the recipients, and it turns out he was exactly the right person. When he received the alert, one specific property came to his mind – his childhood home in the area which was under renovation at the time.
While the search party was scouring the woods, he thought the child might be in a place that no one would expect. So, he rushed to his childhood home, where he found the 2-year old, in his diapers, floating on his back in the green, murky pool. Thanks to his quick thinking, the toddler was safe.
