Woman Can’t Pay For Groceries So Young Cashier Takes Care Of It All
I remember my jobs as a teenager. I had very long hours for not much pay, but I was thrilled at every check. Saving up for my class ring and a car were my priorities at the time. For one young man, he was saving towards his college tuition but sacrificed some of his pay for a woman in need.
John Lopez is 19-years-old and a cashier at Walmart. He recently rang up a woman who started crying when the total charge came to $110 dollars. It was at that moment the young man decided to help the stranger out.
“I just felt in my heart that the Lord told me I had to help her,” he recalled.
“OK, I got you… I got you,” he said to the customer.
He paid for the woman’s full total.
Laci Smith was also in line behind the sobbing woman. She was impressed with John’s generosity and snapped a quick picture of him. She spoke with him briefly as she checked out, and wanted to share the sweet story of the young man on social media.
After the story went viral, someone set up a fundraising page to help John get donations for his tuition as a way for him to receive the type of kindness he gave to the crying woman.
“This year I’d like to keep the Christmas spirit alive by giving back to this young man,” the post reads. “The comments that I’ve seen about this gentleman is extraordinary. He touches a lot of lives on a daily basis. I’d like to give back to him for constantly giving himself to our community. He is also trying to save money to put himself into college. Let’s come together as a community and pay John’s tuition. He will do big things!”
What a great reminder to love your neighbor.
