On April 17, 2018, a collection of workers took their lunch break in sunny Palo Alto, California. They were enjoying a pepperoni pizza before heading back to work.
Then, out of seemingly nowhere, a small dog came up and stole a slice for herself! The workers were shocked.
However, instead of acting with anger or becoming mad at the dog, the group of men could tell that the dog was in desperate need of food and nourishment.
One of the men immediately called the Peninsula Humane Society and SPCA to inform them about the four-legged pizza culprit. The rescue staff quickly arrived on scene and found the starving dog. Then, something shocking happened, and she revealed that the slice of pizza wasn’t just for her.
The dog, now named Queen Elizabeth, led the rescuers to her tiny nest of six puppies. Many of the puppies were starving and near death when they were found.
“This poor little dog was struggling to survive on her own, eating whatever scraps of food she could find and trying to take care of her babies,” the Peninsula Humane Society said.
