It seems like Police officers lately have been disrespected, called names, and even attacked. More They are targets for simply putting on a uniform.
There are a number of officers who put their service to the general public ahead of spending quality time with their families. Such is the story of two police officers who shared a picture of themselves on duty, patrolling the community on Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving is a day that is normally spent with family, planning an elaborate meal and gathering around the table, and festivities normally go on until late in the night. Britney and Steven Hilton decided to go out and work on the holiday instead.
The family is a rather large one, the couple has four little daughters. Their post also had a small write up that described their entire family. Turns out, Steven is also a veteran.
In the post, Britney also addressed the general negativity that is now pointed towards the police force in general. The post was a way for her to spread awareness of the situation that surrounds the police force in the country.
She pointed out how they were also individuals and how some people like to get upset over tickets while officers routinely put their lives at risk every time they get into the blue uniform.
Here is what Britney said:
“All you may see in this photo is two smiling police officers. But there is more. We are husband and wife, parents to four beautiful girls, we are a son and a daughter, a Brother and sister, a grandson and granddaughter, a Niece and nephew. (Steven is also an army veteran). We are friends to many.”
“Before you say hateful things and put all officers in a category….remember we are all individuals attached to a delicate thin blue line. We are attacked daily and getting killed just for putting on a badge. You voice your opinion, and rally against law enforcement over tickets!! We are risking our lives.”
“This photograph was taken on Thanksgiving day. My husband and I both decided to work, giving up time with our family so the community would be safe.”
“Think before you speak. Your words could promote deadly actions.”
Brittany’s photo and comments serve to remind us that law enforcement is full of heroic and compassionate people.
