If you ever watched “Friends” in the 1990s or on Netflix, then you know “Smelly Cat.” A real-life smelly cat lived near an apartment complex, but everyone called him Ugly.

Ugly had one eye, one ear, scabs all over his little body from healing fight wounds, and a broken foot that healed poorly.

Ugly was an apt name, but he also had courage. He never backed down when neighborhood kids sprayed him with water or threw rocks at him to go away. He would even approach his bullies once they gave up and would lay at their feet as if all was forgiven.

This ugly but sweet kitten was fond of attention, and though many a mom warned her kids not to touch the feline, some could not resist.

This cat defied the odds and was making a life for itself, living off of scraps and trash and the scant moments of affection it could rob from a random stranger. Sadly Ugly was mauled to death by some Huskies from the same apartments. He was found in his last moments by a kind stranger, so at least he was not alone when he died.
