There are not many shows on television like the “Got Talent” franchise, and “Ireland’s Got Talent” did not disappoint recently.
One of the best auditions of a duet ever seen on the show, mother and son team Shannon and Brandon Webb wowed the audience with a song very dear to their hearts, Calum Scott’s ‘You Are the Reason.’
While the audition was high-caliber, the story behind this mom and son duo is the emotional bomb that set us all off to Teartown.
Recently 19-year-old Brandon found himself fighting for his life after a night out with the boys.
“I’d taken something I shouldn’t have,” he said in the interview, and the fight for his life began.
Shannon recounts holding his hand, talking and singing to her son, begging him to come back to her, despite the doctors’ instructions to say goodbye.
When he woke up, the two knew they were so blessed to be together once again,
Now, it was time to sing. Shannon and Brandon’s audition was so powerful that the panel of judges, the audience and the host of the show were all moved to tears.
Shannon and Brandon finished the song. They both fought back tears. Lucy, the host, grabbed a mic, walked out from backstage and gave the duo her golden buzzer.
“They’re mine!” she proclaimed as she hit the button.
One of the judges, Michelle Visage, said, “There really is no love in this world like a mother’s love and we, as mothers, felt your joy, your love, and your pain all at the same time singing this song.”
We are so grateful Brandon made it through his life-threatening ordeal, that we got to hear their story and their amazing God-given talent. We cannot wait to see how they do on the live shows.
