A heartbroken mom shared a photo of her daughter comforting her little brother, who has cancer, as he leans over a toilet to be sick.
Little Beckett Burge was diagnosed with lymphoblastic leukemia— a form of blood cancer — when he was only two years old and has had a number of difficult treatments since then.
Brave little Beckett has received a few rounds of chemotherapy as well as blood and platelet transfusions. Nonetheless, he has been facing this terrible disease with admirable strength and determination.
In the viral photo, Beckett can be seen leaning over the toilet about to be sick. But he is not alone, his big sister Aubrey is there with him ready to comfort him.
Beckett and Aurbrey’s mom, Kaitlin Burge, said that she decided to upload the photo to demonstrate the importance of strong family bonds, especially through tough times.
“She didn’t know what was happening, but she knew from experience that when she was sick, we would rub her back and help her through it,” she wrote. “She just picked up from experience and took over. She’d rub his back and tell him it was going to be okay, clean his face up and wash his hands for him. Right after that happened, she also carried him back to the living room and put him on the couch. She asked me she could clean up the bathroom too, but I told her to go and sit down because that wasn’t her job. She takes it upon herself to help and make sure everything he comes into contact with is clean. She’s another set of eyes.”
This is my sweet friend Beckett! He is 3 and battling cancer. I need help getting his hero package funded by Christmas. We are so close, we only need $130. If you are able to make a donation please go to https://t.co/UGcSxXqdTq and make a donation in Beckett Burge’s name. pic.twitter.com/tXPLoXCLKY
