Your Daily Devotion From Doctor Tabor
On this mountain the Lord Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine—the best of meats and the finest of wines.
Isaiah 25:6
A Taste of Heaven
In almost every culture, special foods are prepared and enjoyed to help celebrate the Christmas season. Everywhere we turn it seems that someone has homemade cookies, peppermint candy, fruitcake, fudge, or gingerbread. Then there are parties and dinners, not to mention our own family gatherings with favorite dishes and grandmother’s secret recipe.
While we have to watch our waistline during this calorie-laden season, it seems fitting that we celebrate with such delicious tastes and distinct holiday dishes. With the many festive flavors, we remember that God’s gift is incomparable.
Many people anticipate that in heaven we will enjoy a banquet beyond our imaginations, a feast in which the food and fellowship is literally out of this world. At Christmas time, perhaps it’s only fitting that we get a little taste of heaven.
Pray: “Dear God, I love the many wonderful tastes and smells at this time of year. They remind me that all good things come from you.”
