Join us today as we take a look at Isaiah 1:17 and discuss it.
Encourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow.
Isaiah 1:17
When Jesus returned to heaven after his resurrection, he left us with the gift of the Holy Spirit. Christ explained that the Spirit dwells in us and is our advocate and comforter, the divine presence of God communicating on our behalf.
With this kind of advocacy as our model, we are called to speak out for those who may not have a voice, or those whose voice cannot be heard. This may be challenging and painful. Others may not like the fact that we’re defending those who can’t defend themselves. But God gives us strength to stand before those who would harm those weaker than themselves. It’s not about violence as much as it’s about reminding others of God’s peace, power, and protection.
Today, look for opportunities to take a stand for God’s truth against those who would oppress others.
