Weddings are such beautiful things. They are when two people confess their love for each other in front of their families, loved ones, and God himself. Weddings bring with them the promise of something new. The end of an era and the beginning of a new and more exciting one. After months and months of restless preparation, your big day finally arrives and you feel as though you know all there is to know about the person you’re about to marry – body and soul.
Any engaged couple who are still living in the real world will tell you that they have had cold feet before or on the day of their wedding. Just mere moments before Maggie Earwood, a bride from North Carolina, walked down the aisle, she found out what kind of person her fiancé was. U.S. Marine Corps Cpt. Caleb Earwood decided right before their ceremony that there was one little thing that he needed to take care of. He needed to say a prayer with his beloved fiancé and he needed to do it right then and there. The heartwarming moment was caught on camera by Dwayne Schmidt, the wedding photographer, who later admitted that he could barely keep his composure amidst so much love. Schmidt recalled that “As soon as their hands touched he started getting emotional.”
As per tradition, they didn’t even make eye contact. All they did was hold hands and pray. In an interview with TODAY, Caleb said that “We were about to take our first steps in life together, and we didn’t want to take a step without it being in God’s will. I prayed to God for my beautiful and intelligent wife that he blessed me with, and the amazing family I was marrying into.” The moment Maggie grabbed Caleb’s hand, her heart burst with joy as the realization of what kind of man she was marrying hit her. Maggie recalled, “When I first grabbed his hand, he was shaking really bad, so I knew he was really nervous, it relieved me to know the person I was getting ready to marry felt the same way about God.” Not a single eye was left dry in the room. The photo soon became an internet sensation and this is what Caleb had to say about it, “We’re thankful that our picture is able to bless so many people and touch that many hearts.” Truly a blessed couple.
