Woman Transforms Toilet Paper Into Something That Wows the Internet
Toilet paper is an everyday part of life that many people cannot do without. An everyday necessity, it is not something that people go out of their way to discuss or talk about. A taboo topic in many ways because of the associations related to it, it nonetheless presents a unique perspective if you want to look at it creatively. Essentially a piece of paper, the potential to transform it into something magnificent is both appealing and has been tried before. For one woman who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, it presented a way for her to cope with her situation.
Suffering from what can be considered a debilitating condition, most people in her situation might have given up, feeling that they can no longer cope with what life has in store for them. But not this lady. When she discovered that there was a competition that called for the creative use of toilet paper, she mentally prepared herself to succeed. Wallowing in self pity is easy, but getting out of your comfort zone is what life is really about. So she sat down, conceptualized, visualized and got to work on transforming toilet paper into something that completely amazed everyone who eventually saw it. She used two kinds of paper – pink paper from the 1970s as well as white. And it was the combination of these two that lent itself to creativity and worked towards creating an end where she secured the third place prize in the contest.
The process was long and arduous, with each piece of the final construction requiring more that six hours to work on. What she was working towards ultimately creating was a wedding dress, and it was a dress that stunned everyone who saw it. With the additional help of glue, needle and thread – her creative project was ready to take off. She later admitted that the process helped her work with her illness – giving her something else to focus on instead of just her condition. Her children enjoyed her spending time on her creative project as well, and it helped to see that she was enjoying her time doing something that she liked.
