Jamie is the mother of an extremely fun-loving daughter, Brittany Backenhaster. However, one morning Jamie found her young daughter lying on the bedroom floor, shaking and gurgling. Brittany was experiencing what is known as a ‘mal seizure’, and a big one at that. Jamie knew enough about the disorder and took care of her the attacks with the help of medication. However, when Brittany became unresponsive to the traditional measures, her family began losing hope.
The situation became so terrible that Jamie started to blame herself for her daughter’s sickness. She even said at one point that she gave the sickness to Brittany. It was critical for the little girl to wear a helmet in order to stay protected during the seizures. She also needed expensive medication to soothe the attacks. The funds needed to afford these treatments was often a problem and the family was naturally very stressed. Once, Brittany was hospitalized for almost 3 weeks and MRI scans reported that there was little hope for her recovery.
Jamie was told to take Brittany home and let her stay comfortable while she breathed final moments. The distressed mother prayed the entire night for her sick child. As morning came, Brittany surprised everyone by indicating a response. And do you know what her first words were? “Jesus! Jesus!” The five-year-old girl went on to describe her encounter with Christ while she lay on her deathbed. The doctors declared her absolutely healthy the following day.
