Read our devotion today where we discuss Psalm 34:18.
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
Psalm 34:18
When we were children, it only took a moment in our parent’s arms to get over a scraped knee or spilled cup of juice. The sense of closeness provided a tangible comfort to our distress. We felt safe and secure, aware that our painful problem bothered us but that our mother’s or father’s loving presence was bigger than any problem we encountered.
As we grow up, we learn to handle our painful losses and disappointments by ourselves—to tough it out and push through. But often these injuries never heal. They linger only to ache even more acutely.
We still need our Father’s embrace when we stumble and fall. Whether it’s a day where nothing goes right or a major life loss, we must remember that Someone is bigger than even the largest obstacle we may face. Even when we feel broken and crushed, God comforts us with his care.
