Roxli Doss is a typical 11-year-old girl who loves horses and sleepovers. Recently her childhood was rudely interrupted by a devastating diagnosis of DIPG – an inoperable brain tumor located in her brainstem.
DIPG often kills within nine months according to defeatdipg.org and can make kids lose their eyesight or ability to talk or swallow well before that. Multiple hospitals, Johns Hopkins, Dana-Farber and even Texas Children’s all agreed Roxli had DIPG.
Had, being the operative word.
While Roxli underwent radiation to slow the progression of the disease, this is a 100% incurable cancer and still holds the same mortality rate as it did 40 years ago.
Roxli’s family and community held a benefit to raise money for medical expenses, and people rallied to pray. Roxli’s parents, Scot and Gena were moved to tears as they recounted the miracle their little girl received.
“Every day we still say it. It’s kind of our family thing…God healed Roxli,” Mom said tearfully in a recent interview.
Doctors have no medical explanation for where this tumor went, but they double checked with MRI scans and are continuing to monitor Roxli.
“Praise the Lord,” Scott Doss proclaimed. Today their little girl is a walking sign and wonder of God’s great grace and ability to heal.
“Blessed are those who have regard for the weak; the Lord delivers them in times of trouble. The Lord protects and preserves them – they are counted among the blessed in the land— he does not give them over to the desire of their foes. The Lord sustains them on their sickbed and restores them from their bed of illness.” Psalm 41:1-3 NIV
