She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.”
Genesis 16:13
You stand and look out your window, and you may see traffic or trees or other houses or people, and a thought runs through your mind. No one knows what my life is like. No one knows what goes on inside me. You feel alone. If you entertain the thought, self-pity elbows itself in—and no one cares. Even if you have close relationships with friends and family, sometimes in moments of quiet, of solitude, we can feel isolated in the world.
And the truth is, we are.
We were created by God and for God, in his image. That means that there are places inside of us that only he can reach. As good as life can be at times, there’s nowhere as good as closeness to God, because he knows us. He knows all of us. He knows that sometimes you don’t enjoy being with your children. He knows that the special people in your life don’t always “get” you. He knows that some days you may not talk to anyone at all and you feel forgotten. He sees you.
And he loves you.
