Know what it means when the bible says “Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart” with this short devotional.
“The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
1 Samuel 16:7
Romance and hearts abound today, and you may or may not feel like participating in the traditional celebrations. Either way, it’s okay, because the love you celebrate every day has a source that lasts longer than roses and tastes sweeter than any chocolates. God knows what you’re feeling and going through today, and his love envelops you completely.
He loved you so much that he gave you the most precious valentine imaginable—the living-word love letter of his Son, Jesus. And Christ’s love compelled him to make the supreme sacrifice and lay down his life. As he tells us, there is no greater gift a person can give. We have a God who demonstrated his love on the cross and continues to demonstrate it through his many blessings each day of our lives.
So today, amidst the candy and flowers, remember that the love you have knows no end and requires no gift other than your own heart. Your Father’s love is unconditional!
