A thoughtful gesture that left a father in tears!
Siblings are your first friends who are by your side forever, even when they no longer are. Growing up, most siblings create memories that are cherished later in life. But for some, these memories are cherished in tears as their siblings leave them to go to heaven, earlier than expected.
It was Kenzie’s prom, and like any other teenager, Kenzie had prepared for it. She wanted her prom to be very special, but not for herself. Kenzie’s dad had lost his sister when she was just 19. She was his best friend and his only sibling. As a surprise to her father, Kenzie wore her father’s sister’s prom dress to her prom.
Kenzie, a student from Trenton, Michigan, planned everything with her grandmother for this day. She wanted to give her dad something he would cherish. On the day of the prom, Kenzie dressed in her aunt’s prom dress, and she asked her dad to step out of the house. She asked him to say goodbye before she left to the prom.
Kenzie’s dad expected his daughter to be in a gorgeous new prom dress. What he didn’t expect was to see her in a dress he had once before, a couple of decades ago. Kenzie’s father could not hold back his tears as he saw Kenzie in his sister’s gown. It was a thoughtful gesture to keep his sister’s memory alive. God calls our loved ones to his abode, but he has his way of keeping their memory alive in our heart.
