Mothers and fathers can sense impending danger and often times ‘have a bad feeling’ about their surroundings. The father in this story had such a feeling and was wary about taking his kid out. In spite of that gut feeling, he decided to step out. He was going to his friend’s house to help with a few repairs.
As early as 9:30 in the morning, he heard it in the neighborhood. People were firing off their guns in the air for the fun of it. In Texas, seeing a person shoot a gun into the air is something that is quite normal and people are generally good with guns here.
That, however, does not count if the person handling the weapon is drunk. A drunk reveler in the party fired off a shot down the street without considering what might happen to anyone in the line of fire.
That particular shot rang loudly in the father’s ears and he immediately knew something was off. The loud crack of a gun is not something that any father would ever want to hear near their little child. The kid was hit by the stray bullet and his shoulder was bleeding out.
The child was rushed to the hospital and imagine the relief that kid’s parents felt when they learned that if the bullet had hit the kid just two inches down, it would have been fatal.
