Jesus told us that merciful would be shown mercy. Are you passing on Jesus mercy to others?
[Jesus said,] “Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.”
Matthew 5:7
Some days it feels as though everything goes your way: the sun is shining, your schedule runs smoothly, and an unexpected check arrives in the mail. On these days, it’s easy to feel as though you experience mercy—undeserved kindness. Like a gift from a stranger or a police officer’s warning instead of a ticket, mercy reminds you that you’re getting something much better than you deserve.
Jesus tells us to be merciful, just like his Father, in order to be shown mercy. Each day we have the opportunity to surprise those around us with a taste of God’s goodness. Both in our attitude and our actions, we can demonstrate our gratitude for his grace and forgiveness.
No matter what challenges you face today, God’s mercy—his compassion and kindness—will go ahead of you. In light of this gift, you have the opportunity to pass it along to everyone you encounter.
