Ryan Hammond, a finalist on American Idol, chose to perform ‘You Say’ by Christian artist Lauren Daigle during the show’s Top 20 solos. ‘You Say’ has touched people all over America and the world. The song has even crossed over to become popular on secular music charts.
Daigle reached number one on Christian billboard charts with ‘You Say,’ and her album ‘Look Up Child’ has several other successful songs. According to the artist, this song serves to remind us that God never ceases to believe in us.
“I keep fighting voices in my mind that say I’m not enough;
Every single lie that tells me I will never measure up.
Am I more than just the sum of every high and every low?
Remind me once again just who I am, because I need to know.”
Hammond chose to perform this song in Hawaii while vying for a spot in the live shows. He flawlessly belted out the words to this beautiful song of praise.
“You say I am loved when I can’t feel a thing.
You say I am strong when I think I am weak.
You say I am held when I am falling short.
When I don’t belong, oh You say I am Yours,
And I believe, oh I believe
What You say of me, I believe.”

After his performance, the audience cheered loudly. Judge Luke Bryan told Hammond ‘You can elevate a room with just the power of your voice.’ It looks like we’ll see Ryan Hammond again, as he went on to make American Idol’s Top 20.
