A 28-year-old mom took a selfie just minutes before she fell to the ground and endured a stroke, and now her family credits the picture for saving her life. Please pray for her!
Stephanie Farnan, of Wexford, was discovered on the ground by her dad, Frank, who had just taken her 4-year-old child off at school on August 23.
Stephanie’s younger brother Sean is said to have checked her phone and found a selfie she had only taken 14 minutes before she was found. Farnan was transferred to a hospital where the physicians discovered that she had had a life-threatening brain bleed.
The selfie she took just 14 minutes before she was discovered was then used by doctors to establish the time-frame surrounding the stroke, which allowed them to give her anti-clotting medication that can only be administered a short time after.
This was the photo:
“I don’t remember taking the picture or anything from that morning,” she claimed. “I just remember getting up and getting a head-rush and the next thing I remember is waking up in ICU in Beaumont [Hospital].”
Right now, doctors believe that Farnan’s stroke was caused by a hole that is in her heart. This hole along with an adverse reaction to a contraceptive patch is likely to blame. “My mammy and the rest of the family was told I wasn’t going to make it and to prepare for the worst,” she said.
Looking back at that scary time, Farnan said she had missed the signs that led to this unfortunate stroke. However, she is now warning others to be more aware of their health so that the same thing doesn’t happen to them.
“My vision in one eye was off for a day or two,” she said. “I was putting it down to tiredness or not wearing my glasses enough. I didn’t think it was the kind of thing to go to the doctor about.”
We are praying for her!
