Bad things happen in life, but God is still always in control. Although we face heartache and pain, we need to trust God’s plans and be obedient to him.
A family from Odessa, Texas needs your prayers after tragedy struck just one day before the new year began. I all happened on Sunday, Dec. 31, when a 28-year-old mom of seven was driving home with four of her children. They were all headed home that night after visiting family for Christmas in El Paso, Texas. However, tragedy struck when the mother, Elisabeth Valenzuela, hit an icy patch on the road and lost control of her vehicle. The car then flipped over several times before it came to a complete stop.
Valenzuela was ejected from the car and killed upon impact. The four children were alive, but they were left trapped and helpless inside of the wrecked car. Valenzuela’s brother, Mike Martinez, said the children, who were ages 1, 3, 4, and 5, were all stranded in the car in desperate need of help. Fortunately, a so-called “guardian angel” trucker drove by and discovered the tragedy. He got there just in time and was able to save the kids.
“Luckily he saw there was an issue and he phoned it in,” Martinez said. “Otherwise those poor kids, I don’t know how long they were out there for, but 10-degree weather, who knows how long they would’ve lasted. If you’re listening to this, thank you very much, you saved the four little ones that were in there.”
Miraculously, the four children only sustained minor scrapes and bruises from the crash. They were eventually reunited with the rest of their family are now being cared for by their mother’s family. A GoFundMe has been set up to pay for funeral expenses and to help support all of Valenzuela’s children that she left behind.
“I say this all the time, just hold on to your loved ones for as long as you can,” Martinez said. “Your New Year’s resolution should be to spend more time with family,” Martinez said that he believed his sister’s love for her seven babies is what made her a truly awesome mom and an amazing person. “Her family was number one, she loved her kids, she took care of them, she spoiled them in every way she could and they knew that she loved them,” he said.
Please share this story and pray for these children.
