The film follows the twelve final hours of Jesus’s life that begin with the Agony in the Garden of Gethsemane and end with Christ’s resurrection. Although it was heavily shrouded in controversy, the movie went on to be a massive blockbuster bagging $612 million from its theatrical release. The movie was also nominated for a total of three Academy Awards in 2005.
