Kamoli is the baby gorilla in the Congo Exhibition Area of the zoo. When Isaiah showed up a the zoo, he wanted to play with the gorilla.
Isaiah’s mother, Sherry, told the Columbia Dispatch that they noticed the child staring at Kamoli. They told the kid to mimic the gorilla and the child started beating on his chest. This is when Kamoli began to pay attention to the toddler. What followed can only be described as a game of tag between the boy and the gorilla.
When Kamoli ran to one side of the enclosure, the young boy would follow.
When the gorilla would hide behind a tree, Isaiah eagerly searched for him. Both of them appeared to be having the time of their lives.
The kid and the gorilla went on playing for about five minutes back and forth before then they started getting tired. Once it was time to go, Isaiah waved and said’ bye gorilla.’
Sherry says her son has always been a playful kid. She says her little boy loved the experience. The internet seemed to enjoy the friendship as well. The video of them playing hide and seek has gotten two million views.
One commenter compared Kamoli with the late gorilla, Harambe. The commenter also wondered how anyone could possess ill intent for such wonderful animals. Another commenter called it amazing that humans and gorillas are so alike.
