The sense of smell encompasses one of our most powerful sensory experiences. Scientists tell us we usually have more memories associated with smells than any other sense. And if you’ve inhaled the scent of cookies baking, a freshly mown lawn, or gasoline lately, you know this is true.

No wonder then that most companies have been deliberate about including a pleasant scent as part of their products. From perfume, cologne, candles, air freshener, soap, shampoo, lotion, window cleaner—more and more scents surround us every day.

The makers of these products know that a nice smell can be powerful. Sweeter than the scent of any rose, more fragrant than jasmine, the essence of Christ’s sacrifice reminds us of his unfathomable love. We have the privilege to carry this same sweet smell to those around us.
