Do you have a moment to read our devotion today about Isaiah 41:13?
“I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.”
Isaiah 41:13
Most of our fears come from our perception that something is dangerous, uncertain, and unpredictable. Lightning may or may not strike our house, so we may buy insurance and attach lightning rods to minimize the damage if we are hit. Illness is more likely to develop if we don’t exercise, eat nutritious food, and get adequate rest. We do what we can to dispel and control our fears, but no matter how old we are or how mature in our faith, we still get scared sometimes.
Like a child walking through the woods on a moonless night, we stumble and fall, frightened by what we can’t see. Our imaginations pick up on every little sound and wonder if it’s a wild animal stalking us—or worse, another person. The rumble of thunder or the rustle of branches sends us running, even though we’re engulfed by total darkness.
When we’re afraid, our Father holds our hand and leads the way through anything we may face. We have nothing to fear.
