Growing up, I wanted my own Collie dog who would save the day. It wasn’t until my brother brought home a sweet puppy named Adagia. She was a Pit Bull and Labrador mix. He’d cuddle her in bed, teach her tricks, and eventually, she passed away after a long life. The one thing I observed was the tremendous adoration she had for every member of my family. After hearing this next story, I’d say the same is true of Sasha, the dog.
It was a quiet evening in Stockton, California. Nana Chiachanhda and her baby girl Maailah were soundly asleep when all of a sudden there was loud banging, and noise coming from the back of the house.
It was Sasha, their puppy pit bull, desperately trying to get inside and let everyone know of a huge fire threatening them.
Nana jumped up, let the dog inside, and saw the terrible danger headed towards them.
“At that moment I opened the back door and Sasha ran into our home, straight into our bedroom,” she said in an interview.
“I looked up and there’s black smoke coming from my neighbor’s house. You can see the flames coming out.”
“I ran into the room and I see Sasha. She has my baby by the diaper just dragging her off the bed — trying to get her to safety.”
Everyone made it out safely but their home was lost in the flames. Nana and her children are with relatives for now.
Nana shared her feelings about her sweet puppy: “I owe her everything. If it wasn’t for her, I would have still been in bed and things could have taken a worse turn.”
