A family feared the worst when after returning home they find blood-splattered on the walls. They immediately checked their German Shepherd, Oden, but then realized the blood wasn’t his. Their faithful pet had protected their home from an unsuspecting intruder who hadn’t counted on an alarm system with teeth!
When the Murrin family arrived back home and walked up to the door, nothing seemed out of the ordinary.
“We didn’t see anything wrong,” recalled Tristan Murrin, who walked into the home first. “Nothing at the front door.”
But as they opened the door, they saw a scary scene inside.
Blood spots were the walls and the floor. Oden, their German Shepherd, had been the only family member at home. It was a relief when the canine marched up to them, unharmed.
That’s when the truth of what happened finally hit the family.
The neighborhood had already had several break-ins recently. When the burglar thought no one was home, he must have thought it was an easy target. Boy was he wrong!
“My dog, he’s a pretty big dog, it’s a larger German shepherd,” Tristan said.
Oden is usually a gentle giant.
“He plays with the kids, the cul-de-sac knows him,” Tristan said. “The community loves him — the kids come up to him and want to touch him and play with him.”
Oden had never bitten anyone before but knew that the intruder wasn’t supposed to be there. He was not going to let anyone hurt his family.
Oden was unharmed during the whole ordeal thankfully. The same certainly can not be said for the burglar. No one knows what happened to the intruder after he left the residence.
“When I walked in with my mother and there [were] blood spots on the ground, we looked upstairs,” Tristan recalled. “And you see trails of blood coming from upstairs going all the way down.”
Upon checking the house completely, the family found nothing stolen.
Hopefully, the intruder will decide to change his ways after the encounter with Oden.
