Country singer Darius Rucker raised for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital more than $2 million.
Last week, the crooner held his 10th annual benefit concert ‘Darius and Friends’, followed by a golf tournament and a silent auction.
WKRN revealed that this year alone, 53-year-old Rucker raised $425,000 for St. Jude, exceeding his complete fundraising for the free children’s hospital to over $2 million.
The former Hootie and the Blowfish frontman also visited St. Jude frequently and even published a song called “Possibilities,” inspired by one of the courageous young patients at the hospital back in 2014.
Rucker, Sheryl Crow, Luke Bryan, Brett Young, Jimmie Allen, Kane Brown and Travis Denning were all featured at this year’s ‘Darius and Friends’ concert.
The show had sold out even before the lineup was made public.
“I was struck on that first visit by how St. Jude not only cares for their patients but also their patients’ families,” Rucker gushed in a statement. “They believe that a financial burden is the last thing a family should face when their focus needs to be on helping a kid get better, and St. Jude makes sure that their patients never pay a dime. It’s an honor for us to be able to help them continue such an important mission.”
God bless Darius for his generosity. Please pray for the children of St. Jude and also please donate at https://www.stjude.org/
